Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Networks Asia (Spena) has announced two
promotions amongst its senior management team, and a series of appointment changes
to the middle management, effective this month. Voo
Chih Yeong has been promoted from executive director to VP, affiliate sales and
marketing. He is responsible for all sales and marketing activities working with
pay-TV partners, as well as network distribution across the region. Voo
also continues as head of Sony Entertainment Television, Spenas new female-skewed
entertainment channel. He reports to Spena senior VP, GM Ricky Ow. Also
being promoted is Wong Yan-Jong, from executive director to AXN Asia VP. Jong
oversees all programming, marketing and creative services functions of both AXN
and AXN Beyond in the region. She headed up AXN Asia as executive director since
2006, and served as director of programming before that. Adding
on the challenge of network promotion is Kim Sang-Im, who is currently director
of Korea and digital media. In addition to her existing duties, she will work
closely with the operations team to plan the most effective cross promotional
strategy to boost the profile of the four linear channels across the various pay-TV
platforms in the region. Jacky
Foo is appointed as director, Taiwan, from his position of AXN Asia creative director.
Overseeing Spenas operations in Taiwan, Foo leads the programming, marketing
and network presentation functions of the Taiwan team. Ad
sales for Taiwan continues to be handled by executive director Steven Tsou. He
reports to VP advertising sales and Marketing Jack Lim. Jong,
Im and Foo will all report to Spena senior VP, channels management and finance
Ang Hui Keng. There
are also a series of changes within the marketing teams at AXN and Animax. Tay
Ying Hui, previously AXN and AXN Beyond associate director of marketing, joins
the programming team as associate director, Programming. Replacing Tay is Judy
Chow, who moves over from her marketing role at Animax Asia to be AXN Asia and
AXN Beyond director of marketing. At
Animax, the marketing team headed by Chow will now be led by Animax Asia VP, GM
Gregory Ho. He will be assisted by Animax Asia director of creative services Tracy
Wong who will oversee the integration of off- and on-air marketing efforts at
the anime and youth channel.
Ow
says, SPE Networks Asia has come through a challenging
year very well thanks in part to the capable leadership of
the management team. The promotions are definitely well-deserved.
The appointment changes are also a testament to the ability
of our people to take on new challenges and additional responsibilities.
