| MUMBAI:
Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) a not-for-profit industry body
to addresses the issues, concerns and challenges of the internet and mobile economy,
has appointed Google India MD Shailesh Rao as its chairman and eBay India country
manager Ambareesh Murty as its Vice Chairman.
The
announcements were made following the annual general meeting of the Association
on 28 April by IAMAI president Subho Ray. Commenting
on his new role Shailesh Rao said, "We need to build a visible identity and
collective vision for the internet industry of India. By organiing the relevant
stakeholders, evangelizing the value of the medium and advocating proactive government
action, IAMAI will emerge as the credible and important platform for digital India." "The
Internet is now the mainstream medium and the priority in the next few years would
be to ensure that the IAMAI represents the entire ecosystem of internet businesses
in India today including start-ups and early-stage businesses," avered Ambareesh
Murty.
IAMAI
represents the interests of the internet and mobile value-added
services companies in India.
