MUMBAI: ACK Media, publishers of Tinkle, Amar Chitra Katha, and Karadi Tales, have extensive plans to spread out in the retail, online, broadcast and mobile space.

"With an investment of $15-20 million in the next 2-3 years, we plan to expand and present our content across all platforms," says ACK Media CEO Samir Patil. However, Patil didn't mention the individual spend in each segment.

"As part of our retail initiative, we have set up two reading lounges called 'ACK lounges' in Bangalore (Indira Nagar) and Hyderabad (Jubilee Hills). These will be extended to other cities and metros. We are looking at setting 20-25 shop-in- shops and ACK lounges in the country," says Patil.

When asked whether airports and railways stations would be locations for the 'ACK Lounges' he says, "As of now, they wouldn't be located in airports as the economics isn't working fine for us. As for railway stations, only certain book stores have the rights. Since, our books are already available through AC wheeler we aren't looking there."

Online shopping is another initiative that the company is working on. "Launched four days back, Amar Chitra Katha can be ordered online and would be shipped for free anywhere in the world. The next agenda is to put a gaming site in place," says Patil.

A part of this investment will also go in the broadcast space. "ACK will be producing content for multiple channels that would be both animated (characters from Tinkle, Amar Chitra Katha and Karadi Tales) and live action shows," says Patil.

The company recently tied up with Vodaphone Essar which provides Amar Chitra Katha content to customers through a voice portal and Vodaphone Live.
