MUMBAI:
The Election Commission yesterday slapped a ban on All India
Radio (AIR) for broadcasting the jingle on Women's empowerment
and certain other programmes under the Bharat Nirman programme.
The
AIR required the commission's opinion before proceeding with
the broadcast, as it was endorsing some government programmes.
Under the code of conduct, such broadcasts are prohibited
during the election period.
According
to PTI, the election commission has forbidden AIR from broadcasting
any such jingle until the elections are over.
