MUMBAI:
It's churn time at Sony Entertainment Television (Set) India.
Soon after the exit of its CEO Kunal Dasgupta, news is breaking
that the business head of the network's flagship channel Albert
Almeida is on his way out.
"I
have resigned and will be announcing my new destination after
two weeks," Almeida tells Indiantelevision.com.
Put
in this post since September 2006, Almeida has been under
pressure to lift Sony Entertainment Television up as it has
been losing ground in a tough audience competition environment.
The
channel, which was enjoying second position after Star Plus
took market leadership in 2000, has been on a downward curve
and is currently ranked a weak fourth.
Almeida
joined Set India (now called Multi Screen Media) in 2003 as
marketing head of Sony TV. He was then made business head
of Max, the movie, cricket and events channel, in 2005. The
high tide was when Sony bagged the World Cup rights.
