MUMBAI: Sahara One Media & Entertainment Ltd. has syndicated 60 movies from its library to the newly launched Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Real and market leader Star Plus for an estimated amount of Rs 100 million.

The movies, for which both the channels have got the telecast rights, include Guru, Umrao Jaan, Nishabd, Sarkar, No Entry and EMI.

“We have syndicated some movies from our library to Real and Star through Select Media which manages our movie syndication deals," says Sahara One Media & Entertainment head distribution and syndication Sharad Pal.

The deal will run for one year wherein the syndicated films will be entitled for 180 airings. “Both the channels have got the films for 180 airings, which is three airings each within a period of one year,” Pal informs.

Real, the recently launched channel by Real Global Broadcasting Pvt Ltd (RGBPL), has movie slots on weekends during 1-4 pm, 4-7 pm and 7-10 pm.

Says RGBPL president Sharada Sunder, “We are a newly launched channel and this is the first movie acquisition deal we have done. We will be positioning them in our weekend slot (Friday-Sunday).”

Sunder, however, declined to comment on the financial details of the deal.
