| MUMBAI:
Ashutosh Gowariker's 2008 period feature Jodhaa Akbar was honoured with
seven awards at the first Mirchi Music Awards, while Lata Mangeshkar walked away
with The Lifetime Achievement Award. While
music composer and Oscar winner AR Rahman bagged the best 'song of the year' award
for 'Jashn-e-Bahara', Javed Ali was adjudged the best male vocalist for the same.
Bella Shende
won the best female vocalist title for 'Manmohana' while the lyricist of
the year prize went to Javed Akhtar for 'Jashn-e-Baharaa' once again.
The technical award
for best song mixing was bestowed upon Late H Shridhar Khwaja for 'Mere Khwaja',
while the best technical award for programming and arranging went to TR Krishna
Chetan for 'Jashn-E-Bahara'.
Rahman, meanwhile, took away the technical award for best film background score
for Jodhaa Akbar. ENIL
CEO Prashant Panday said, "We at Radio Mirchi are extremely happy and encouraged
with the response we have received from the music fraternity for this initiative.
We believe that the Mirchi Music Awards will grow in stature with every passing
year." The
memorable contribution to music award was given to saxophonist and music arranger
Manohari Singh. The
awards will be telecast on 12 April on Star Plus at 9.30 pm. The
other winners of the Mirchi Awards were: Best
