NEW DELHI: Renowned Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishen has joined the recently-launched Hamar TV as president of its Mumbai Operations.

According to Positive Media Group chairman Matang Sinh, the entry of the star in this channel will be a big boost as he was known as an actor with a clean image.

Hamar TV, India’s first Bhojpuri news and current affairs channel, will also carry news bulletins in other languages and dialects spoken in the region.

Launched earlier this month, the channel will cater to over 180 million people across the country, and will also be distributed overseas. Apart from India, the channel will also focus on Mauritian viewers whose ancestors went from eastern India and were Bhojpuri speaking.

The channel will establish full-fledged bureaus across the continent to cater to Bhojpuri audiences.

The channel is headed by Kumar Sanjoya Singh who is also the Managing Editor for the NE TV Group.

On entering the channel, Kishen said he would use the opportunity to spread a glimpse of the culture of the eastern states in the country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The channel is being beamed from INSAT 2E for its worldwide distribution. For distribution in India , Focus TV is also available on cable TV networks and DTH platforms including Airtel, Big TV, Sun Direct and Dish TV and will shortly be available on Tata Sky as well.
