Sony goes local with Hanuman on PS2

MUMBAI: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has launched its first game with Indian mythology content on playstation2.

"Hanuman: Boy Warrior" has been developed by Aurona Technologies, a subsidiary of the Pyramid Samira Group, and will be the first console game to be playable in Hindi as well as in English.

 

Sony Computer Entertainment PlayStation country manager Atindriya Bose said, "Hanuman is our very own classic hero and is ever-popular across India and with Indians abroad. The launch of Hanuman: Boy Warrior has marked a very significant milestone in the Indian game development industry and also signifies the importance we attach to the Indian market and the Indian game development industry."

Conceived and made at Aurona's Hyderabad studio, Hanuman: Boy Warrior has been developed exclusively for PlayStation2 and will be available in the Indian market at a retail price of Rs 499.

 
 
Aurona Technologies CEO Santosh Pillai said, "We have created the console game Hanuman: Boy Warrior to capture the hearts and minds of India's current and aspiring game players and their families. Using the PS2 console, the player helps the hero to fight evil-doers at several mystical landscapes of the epic period. We believe the game has the necessary ingredients to become a classic."

According to SCEE, the Hanuman story is a classic "Win of Good over Evil" tale targeted at children and young teens. It is a narrative of Hanuman that allows the audience to easily identify with the character as he goes through the game that reflects the time period in the players' lives.
