MUMBAI: Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation is ready for a new whirl.

Post the recent announcement of Peter Chernin's decision to step down as president and CEO of News Corp. in June, company chairman and chief executive officer Rupert Murdoch has restructured the Los Angeles-based Fox businesses.

As part of the plan, the Los Angeles-based creative production divisions will be combined under a single unit, reporting to Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman, co-chairmen of Fox Filmed Entertainment.

Twentieth Century Fox Television chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden will report to Gianopulos and Rothman. Fox Television Studios - president Emiliano Calemzuk will report to Newman and Walden.

On the television network front, Fox Networks Group chairman Tony Vinciquerra will continue to head the cable networks, the business aspects of Fox Broadcasting and Fox International Channels. He will also gain responsibility for Fox Broadcasting programming.

Meanwhile, Peter Liguori will be stepping down as Fox Broadcasting chairman entertainment, with immediate effect. Peter Rice, Fox Searchlight president, will exit his post at the specialty label, and take on the role of Fox Broadcasting chairman entertainment, reporting to Vinciquerra.

"Peter Rice has championed films such as Slumdog Millionaire, Little Miss Sunshine, and Juno during his tenure at Fox Searchlight. As we increasingly look to apply unconventional approaches to our traditional businesses, I'm convinced Rice is the right person to transform our broadcast television business," said Murdoch.

With Rice's departure at Fox Searchlight, Nancy Utley and Steve Gilula will jointly run the business, reporting to Gianopulos and Rothman. Utley and Gilula, COOs of Fox Searchlight, will assume full authority for the business.

Claudia Lewis, production - president, remains in place.
