MUMBAI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has given the nod to Wayanad Social Service Society (WSSS), Mananthvady, Kerala, for setting up, maintaining and operating a community radio station (CRS).

The CRS is expected to be operational within three months, as per the agreement.

WSSS was established in 1974 to conduct, manage, promote the social welfare centre, technical schools and hospitals to give practical and technical knowledge to people and to conduct cooperative societies.

With this, the total number of CRS operated by educational institutions and non-governmental bodies has risen to almost 120 which includes State Agricultural Institutions and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
