MUMBAI: The British Broadcasting Corporation has announced that its channel BBC HD will focus on sports and music over the next few months.

The events that the channel will showcase will include the Queen's Tennis Championship and the Tennis Grand Slam Wimbledon this month, BBC Proms from 17 July-12 September and World Championships in Athletics from 15-28 August, all in high definition.

BBC HD features shows from across the BBC – from drama and children's programmes through to natural history, sport, entertainment and music.

Other forthcoming programme highlights include the documentary Henry VIII – Patron Or Plunderer? and a new drama Hope Springs.

BBC HD head Danielle Nagler says, "Sport and music lend themselves perfectly to HD viewing. It really brings these sort of events to life and hence this summer will be a treat for BBC HD viewers."
