Super Cassettes Industries Limited (SCIL), the company which operates under the
T-Series brand, recently filed a complaint with the Puttur police station, Mangalore
against Classic Video, Mobile Point for infringement of its copyrighted works.
when the police conducted a raid on Classic Video, they recovered pirated MP3
CDs, Bluetooth DVDs and memory cards containing copyrighted works of SCIL's films
namely Billu Barber and Ghajini.
was also found out that the owners and employees were downloading songs and videos
of films like Aap Ka Suroor, Apne, Fashion, Billu Barber, Karz and Ghajini,
the copyrights of which belong to SCIL. They were also seen downloading obscene
films with the help of a CPU and card reader of a computer onto many mobile phones.
police immediately registered a FIR (No. 123/2009) against the proprietors Avinash
and Suresh and later arrested them for offence of piracy.
the facts SCIL general manager Anil Kakkar said, "The
incident took place on 1 June and only after a thorough investigation,
did the police arrest the pirates. Both Avinash and Suresh
are in custody right now and if found guilty by the Court,
they could face a fine of Rs 50,000 each and an imprisonment
of up to three years."
