IPL scores higher than T20 WC in semi-finals stage

MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) gets the better of the Twenty20 World Cup. With India being knocked out, the two T20 World Cup semi-finals got an average TVR of 3.25, according to Tam data.

The IPL, in comparison, got an average TVR of 6.35, up from 6.25 TVR in its first edition.

The all important India versus England encounter on 14 June, which also aired on DD, got a rating of 7.5. However after India got knocked out, the inconsequential match against South Africa on 16 June got a rating of 4.2. Compared with this, the India versus South Africa Super Eight match in 2007 got a rating of 10.4.

The Super Eight match between Sri Lanka and and New Zealand only got a rating of 1.1 as did a match between England and West Indies.

The eight matches played from 14-19 June got a TVR of 2.9. This was a small rise as the 18 matches till 13 June got an average TVR of 2.76. In 2007, buoyed by India's performance, the matches got an average TVR of 3.5.
