| MUMBAI:
After selling the India subcontinent rights of Little Krishna to kid's broadcaster
Nick, Big Animation is now gearing up to expand its maiden 3D animated TV series'
reach further through the GEC space. "We
are talking to a number of GECs and if all goes well, the serial will start beaming
from this Gokul Asthami (14 August) onwards," says Big Animation CEO Ashish
Kulkarni. Big
Animation, the animation wing of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, plans to
release the series in Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati and Bengali besides Hindi and English
across the GEC spectrum. Further,
post launching its product on to the GEC platform, Big further plans to roll out
a series of licensing and merchandising products based on Little Krishna. "We
are also in plans to tap the mobile market for wallpaper and Krishna's flute tunes.
Later we will enter the home video market," says Kulkarni. Meanwhile,
Big Animation is talking to a few game developers for the design of Little Krishna
and his fight with demons. "This exercise would lead itself to a great game
experience at multiple levels," Kulkarni adds. During
the process, the company will release Little Krishna on TV channels in foreign
shores, expecting it to reach a minimum of 50-60 countries in the next couple
of years. Big
has also made its intention clear of making a film on Krishna. With the help of
scriptwriter Jeffrey Scott and The Indian Heritage Foundation, Big is in process
of narrowing down on viable projects on Krishna and his duels with Kansh (his
maternal uncle). "The
film will be unlike the serial in which only Krishna's fights with demons are
highlighted," concludes Kulkarni. |
