MUMBAI: Time Warner Inc and Comcast Corp are planning to bring their cable TV shows on the Internet for the subscribers.

Time Warner and Comcast will start online video trials nationally in July, reaffirming that content viewing is moving online and to mobile phones.

"It's clearly something demanded by consumers," Time Warner Chief Executive Jeff Bewkes said. "If this approach gets adopted, it will go past broadcast viewing."

The test will involve 5,000 Comcast customers who will receive access to Turner Broadcasting System Inc.'s TNT and TBS cable networks.

Most cable shows are not available online unless they're versions shared by viewers. Time Warner and Comcast say a successful test would open the floodgates for shows not easily accessible or available for more than 90 per cent of households that pay for TV.
