MUMBAI: Mobile TV subscribers is estimated to reach 100 million in 2009 as compared to that of 70 million in 2008, reveals 'Global Mobile TV Forecast to 2013', a study done by RNCOS.

Mobile TV has emerged as a viable revenue generator for mobile operators and broadcasters which could help them in increasing their average revenue per users (ARPUs). Consumers too are embracing the use of mobile TV as it offers them mobility coupled with personalized and interactive content.

Increasing demand for mobility will lead global mobile TV subscriber base to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 46 per cent taking the subscribers reach to 450 million during 2009-2013, says the report.

Japan and South Korea are the major technology adopters that contribute to almost half of the total mobile TV subscribers in 2008. Meanwhile, a certain growth is expected in other Asia-Pacific countries such as India and China.
