| MUMBAI:
The entire music world is in a state of shock with the death of pop star Michael
Jackson.
Jackson
(50) suffered a heart attack at his Holmby Hills home in Los
Angeles. He went into coma on his way to the UCLA hospital
but was declared dead on arrival.
The
fifth child of the Jackson family, Jackson debuted on the
professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The
Jackson 5 and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member
of the group.
Referred
to as the 'King of Pop' in subsequent years, four of his solo studio albums are
among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Bad
(1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995) while his 1982 Thriller
is the world's best-selling record of all time.
It's said that Jackson
was under the influence of extensive prescribed drugs as he was preparing to get
in shape for his comeback tour that was to start next month in London. "This
is such traumatic loss to the world of entertainment and our global culture ...
His musical impact has changed lives forever including mine. I had the opportunity
to perform at his Neverland ranch and cover one of his songs 'rock with you' that
to this day I still perform on stage. I know his legacy will live on forever,"
said songstress Madona.
Jackson's
comeback tour in July, 12 years since he faded out, was to
revive his magic touch and also retire part of his his $500
million debt. But it was never to be as a cardiac arrest seized
him away from his fans and creditors.
