MUMBAI: AGICOA, the Geneva-based TV collective rights management organization, has appointed Paul Duggan as chief executive officer, effective immediately.

AGICOA organizes the international collection of rights payments from the re-transmission of programming on cable and satellite.

Prior to this, Duggan was CEO of the consultancy firm Intermedia Partners where he was responsible for advising corporations and governments in Europe, Asia and the Middle East on understanding the media marketplace, developing and establishing policy and business initiatives for media and technology products and services.

Said Duggan, "Currently, digital technology is transforming the media landscape and adding new dimensions to broadcasting in choice, content and re-broadcast platforms. This offers huge potential for growth and revenue opportunities, and the associated challenges for rights holders in tracking secondary use of their products."

"At AGICOA, we are committed to obtaining, collecting and distributing the royalties that lie beyond the reach of individual rights holders, and that is my focus as CEO of the organization," he added.
