After failing to raise funds and repay debt, the cash-strapped Irish pay-TV broadcaster
Setanta has finally gone into administration. Accounting
firm Deloitte, which has been appointed as administrator, announced that Setanta
will cease broadcasting to its UK customers shortly and will no longer collect
subscription fees. Setanta
was under financial cloud as it had failed to pay £30 million due to the
English Premier League, stripping the broadcaster of its rights to 46 Premier
League games. The
final blow came Monday, when ESPN acquired the broadcast rights for the League
matches. The
company still holds the rights of FA Cup, some England matches, US PGA Golf and
Guinness Premiership rugby from next year. Also
