I&B gives nod to first community radio station at hill resort

NEW DELHI: A community radio station – the 47th in the country – is to come up at Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, Mussoorie in Uttarakhand.

The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months, according to the Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating signed with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

The Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary Society under whose aegis Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School is run, affiliated with ISC and ICSE New Delhi, has drawn up an unique and utilitarian programme to establish the Community Radio Station “Radio Khushi”.

The station will serve the civil society on issues relating to developmental, cultural, local and national events, civic and traffic issues, calamities and other significant matters. The services of Doctor/ health workers will also be used in conceiving radio programmes.
