| MUMBAI:
Discovery Channel has roped in Steve McGowan as senior vice president (SVP) -
research. Prior
to this, McGowan was SVP - insights and client research initiatives at Nielsen.
McGowan
will join office from 13 July and will report to Discovery Channel president and
GM John Ford. In his new capacity, McGowan will plan and direct all broadcast,
digital media, marketing, ancillary and other research projects for the channel.
"Steve's
experience and instincts will increase our analytical research focus on audience
trends and better strengthen our development process and advertising opportunities,"
said Ford.
In
his tenure with Nielsen, McGowan helped the company measure
and report the use of Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) and Video
on Demand (VOD) in a bid to help track track the usage of
portable media devices.
