| MUMBAI:
BBC South East Todays partnership with its presenters Geoff Clark and Beverley
Thompson has come to an end. Clark
will terminate his five year association with the BBC in October-end, after helping
establish the regional evening news programme.
Thompson,
however, will continue to stay with South East Today to develop the channels
approach to local journalism. Polly
Evans and Rob Smith will replace them and become the programmes presenters
from November. "We
know viewers will miss Clark and Thompson and I can assure the audience that this
decision was not taken lightly. Both are excellent presenters in their own right
and their warm, engaging, humorous partnership has been the backbone of the programme
for five years, says South East Today region head Mich Rawsthorne.
Announcing
Evan's and Smith's new positions, South East Today TV Editor Quentin Smith said:
"Both of them are already known to viewers as much for their professionalism
in reporting as for their presenting abilities. While I know Bev and Geoff will
be a hard act to follow, we hope viewers will take Rob and Polly to their hearts." |
