MUMBAI:
Rajasthan Royals, the champion team of the inaugural edition
of the Indian Premier League (IPL), will play a charity match
with Middlesex Panthers, the Twenty20 champions of English
Cricket at Lords on 6 July. The match will be broadcast live
on Star Cricket at 9 pm.
The
game will feature international cricketers from England, Australia, South Africa,
India and Pakistan. The Panthers will be led by their captain Shaun Udal and the
squad will include Tyron Henderson, Owais Shah and Murali Kartik. In addition
to Captain Shane Warne, the Rajasthan Royals will include Johan Botha, Justin
Langer, Sohail Tanvir and Dimitri Mascarenhas. Speaking
on the occasion, Shilpa Shetty, co-owner of Rajasthan Royals said, "I'm delighted
that the Rajasthan Royals will be the first IPL team to play in England. The British
and the Asian community love Bollywood and they love cricket, so it seemed the
perfect match! I know it's going to be an exciting match and an awesome atmosphere
at Lord's on Monday." "This
contest between the two champion teams is expected to generate a lot of interest
amongst the cricket fans across the country as a host of Indian and international
stars will display their talent on the ground. We are delighted to be associated
