| MUMBAI:
Radio stations in Mumbai are gearing up to exploit the monsoon season as their
next promotional platform to create a direct connect with their listeners.
As part of the
initiative, Big 92.7 FM has invited mumbaikars to register themselves with the
station as 'Big Mumbaikars' who will represent their areas as monsoon reporter
to update fellow citizens on the weather. "We
have also associated with BMC, Best, traffic police, tailways, netwinks, 1298
and topsline security. All of them will help provide the latest updates on flooded
areas, weather, traffic, emergency numbers etc which could be critical during
heavy rainfall," says Big 92.7 FM regional head Himanshu Shekar. Fever
104 FM, meanwhile, has rolled out a three-week long initiative called 'non-stop
chatri service'. As part of the service, Fever FM squads will be present on the
roads and across railways stations to rescue people stuck in the rains. Radio
City 91.1 FM, on the other hand, has started 'City Taxi' service for listeners.
They can avail these services by calling the station either during its breakfast
show Kasa Kai Mumbai or evening show Joyride. Radio
Mirchi, on a lighter note, plans to celebrate monsoons by introducing an on-air
charachter 'Mirchi Mendak' that will run on-air contests.
Radio Mirchi, meanwhile, has launched the 'Mirchi Rasta Reporter' initiative wherein
listeners, who are on the move, can call and report about flooded areas, traffic
jams, traffic beat and problem areas in the city during the monsoon.
93.5 Red FM, which had initiatives like 'Vote for Boat' last year, has put its
plans for the monsoon on hold. |
