| MUMBAI:
European football's governing body Union of European Football Associations (UEFA)
is reportedly unhappy with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
UEFA
has strongly opposed to the BCCI naming their international T2O tournament Champions
League as the name clashes with its premier inter club football event, the UEFA
Champions League, which showcases the top football clubs across the Europe.
Apparently,
BCCI had applied for a Community Trade Mark (CTM) license for the event, which
would enable them to promote and market the event in the UK. As
per the media reports, UEFA had sent a letter to the BCCI informing them about
violation of the use of trademarks of the Champions League in the European Union. The
inaugural edition of the event was scheduled for December 2008. |
