MUMBAI:
Sony Entertainment Television is tapping Bollywood filmmaker
Madhur Bhandarkar to shore up its ratings. The Hindi general
entertainment channel has signed up the maker of such hits
as Page3, Corporate, Traffic Signal and
Fashion to produce a 10-episode TV series.
Bhandarkar's
company Bhandarkar Entertainment Pvt Ltd will, thus, be getting
into TV production. Bhandarkar, however, will not be directing
the TV series which will have standalone stories each episode.
"I
will not be directing the short stories. My company is involved
in making serials and ads too and this department will be
taking care of it under the supervision of Ashok Pandit and
Raman Kumar who are from the TV industry and understand the
intricacies involved in making serials. We will be making
10 interesting short stories of one episode each for the channel,"
Bhandarkar says.
The show will hit the screens by February-end. The title for
the TV series, which will have women-oriented themes, is yet
to be decided.
