He was rated as amongst the most gifted comedy writers in the United Kingdom.
But death had the last laugh when a streptococcal infection took away Sharat Sardana's
life on 27 January. Sardana who penned comedies such as Goodness Gracious Me,
The Kumars at No 42, Going for English (along with his writing partner
Richard Pinto) was just 40 when he breathed his last. The
comedies he penned were aired by BBC and were humorous and slapstick sketches
of BritAsian culture.The shows that he penned were among the first BritAsian shows
to break into the main stream culture. They got recognition too in the form of
Bafta nominations for Goodness Gracious Me and for The Kumars at Number
42 which pocketed an International Emmy in 2006.
At
the time of his death, reports say he was penning a series
that he hoped would become the male counterpart of Sex
and The City.
His
funeral is slated for 4 February in England. |
