| MUMBAI:
Following a long and tedious battle, T-Series, the music major, has managed to
get an injunction order against Asianet Communications Ltd from a Delhi court.
T-Series
has asked Asianet to follow IPRS norms and either pay or stop using Hindi songs
(of which T Series has acquired rights) in the channels popular reality-based
show. T-Series
president marketing, media and publishing (TV) Vinod Bhanushali tells Indiantelevision.com,
We have noticed that Asianet is allowing contestants of their reality shows
to sing popular Hindi songs, which falls under our IPR. We asked them to pay for
that or stop using them. After
one legal notice, both parties had meetings and the channel had agreed to what
we were saying, but later on they declined to pay for the used music. So we had
to file a case, he adds. HMJ
Hima Kohli, on an appeal by T-Series against Asianet for consideration and injunction,
granted an ex-parte injunction thereby restraining Asianet from broadcasting and
telecasting T-Series content in any manner whatsoever till the next date of 22
January, 2009. Bhanushali
further says, We pay huge amount of money not only to acquire but also on
promotions of music. So it is important that it makes money for the music companies." |
