DELHI: Turner International has delayed the launch of its
English movies and series' channel as it is yet to get government
approvals.
"We
will announce a launch date, after receiving government approvals,"
Turner International President (Asia Pacific) Stephen Marcopoto
said.
Earlier
Turner had announced it would launch the channel in partnership
with sister arm Warner Brothers by the end of the fourth quarter
of 2008.
Turner
already has an English movie channel HBO in India. When asked
about whether the new channel will be launched in the same
space, Marcopoto added, The new channel will be a mix
of Hollywood movies and series while HBO features more of
Hollywood blockbusters. The channel will be positioned differently
for a different set of audiences.
Turner
presently operates channels like CNN, Pogo, Cartoon Network and HBO in India. |
