Ten Sports has bagged the telecast rights of Sri Lankas upcoming two-legged
tour of Pakistan. The
tour comprises three one day internationals in the first leg in January, and two
Test matches in February. Sri
Lanka are filling in for India, who cancelled their tour to Pakistan, originally
scheduled for this month. Pakistan last played a Test match in India in December
2007, while their last Test match at home was against South Africa in October
2007. The hosts did not play even a single Test match in 2008. Sri
Lankan team will play the first two ODIs in Karachi 20 and 21 January at 12.30
pm. However, the final ODI will be played in Lahore on Saturday, 24 January at
12 noon. After
the ODI series, Sri Lankan team will go back to play five ODIs and one T-20 match
with India, before returning to Pakistan in February. The first Test match is
scheduled from Sunday, 22 February, at Karachi, followed by the second Test in
Lahore from 2 March. Taj
Television Ltd (owner of Ten Sports) CEO Chris McDonald said, We are happy
that international cricket is making a return to Pakistan. Pakistan has always
been, and remains, one of the most exciting teams in the world, and fans across
the globe will be keen to see their form when they take on Sri Lanka. Taj
Television recently pocketed for $140 million the production and telecast rights
of all international matches from Pakistan through 2013. |
