Amrita TV gears up for 5th Amrita Film Awards

MUMBAI: Malayalam general entertainment channel Amrita TV is set to host the 5th Amrita Film Awards (AFA), to be held on 21 February in Trivandrum. The channel claims that since 2005, Amrita TV has pioneered the Lifetime Achievement Roll of Honour in cinema which provides a platform to recognise the contribution of known and forgotten stalwarts who played a stellar role in various aspects of cinema during their lifetime.

Some of the key award categories for AFA 2009 include film, direction, acting (male/female), script, music, lyrics, song (male/female), cinematography, editing, costume, art and make-up.

Amrita TV is also examining some innovative recognition, which will be announced soon through jury selection. The AFA 2009 will see performances by artistes from Mumbai and Madras film industry. The channel claims that over 30,000 people are expected to attend the show.
