MUMBAI: Chandigarh-based Compact Disc India (CDI) has earmarked $100 million for its two animation projects - Soccer and Eternal Love.

While the Soccer project will see an investment of $63 million (Rs 3.09 billion) which includes production, gaming, and merchandising costs, CDI will invest approximately $37 million to produce Eternal Love.

As reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, the production budgets of the two films - Soccer and Eternal Love - are pegged at $20.15 million and $15.70 million respectively.

"We will invest $23 million in developing the gaming project for Soccer and $10 million will go towards merchandising. A further $10 million will be spent for marketing and promotions," says Compact Disc India chairman Suresh Kumar.

"For Eternal Love too, we have earmarked around $10-11 million for marketing and promotions," he adds.

The company claims that it has already raised the requisite money from foreign banks and shall be making announcements on the same sometime in the third week of February.

CDI will officially announce and launch the animation feature Soccer with legendary Brazilian player-Pele at Cannes Film Festival, 2009. The company plans to release the film just before the Fifa World Cup in 2010.
