MUMBAI:
Channel [V] International, the music and lifestyle network
from the Star stable, has sealed an agreement with the Manila-based
media company Makisig Network to expand its presence in the
Philippines market.
As
part of the partnership deal, Makisig Network will produced
and develop three hours of 'Tagalog' (local language) content
for [V] Philippines, the local content block to be created
on the channel.
The
block will launch on or before 1 June wherein local VJs along
with local bands and artists will make up the bulk of the
content offering.
Star
executive VP Cheah Chee Kong says, Channel [V] International
is a vital brand for young people across Asia and we are thrilled
to see it grow its presence and localise in a market that
truly loves music and popular culture as much as the Philippines."
The
deal also allows Makisig Network to include Channel [V] International
in it's bouquet of basic tier channels on Sky Cable (Channel
59) from 1 March onwards.
The
carriage pack will expand the reach of the channel to approximately
600,000 households across the Philippines.
Makisig
Network president Jacque Ruby says, Channel [V]'s rich
and varied content and programmes are perfect match to Makisig's
new direction, that of providing entertainment for the youth.
The partnership also calls for major events that can be held
in Manila, featuring international and local artists."
