Zapak's gaming championship gets 1.16 mn participants

MUMBAI: The Gillette Mach3 Turbo India Gaming Championship '09, conducted by Reliance Entertainment's online gaming portal Zapak and Gillette, came to a close in Mumbai yesterday.

There were 48 finalists present, battling it out to win the championship.

 

The tournament was announced with the launch of Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Winner razor on 8 January, 2009. The tournament witnessed 1.16 million gamers participating in casual as well as hardcore games across eight cities- Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore.

Also seen at the final event among the gamers was Bollywood hunk, Neil Nitin Mukesh to unveil 'Aa Dekhein Zara' game created by Zapak for his forthcoming movie Aa Dekhe Zara and to felicitate the winners of the biggest gaming competition.

 

Gillette India marketing manager Sumeet Narang said, "Furthering our association with sports, we partnered with Zapak to launch the India Gaming Championship at the launch of the new red look Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Winner Razor. It was an attempt to bring out the winner in everyone and give every sports enthusiast a chance to try their games online."

Zapak CMO Arun Mehra said, "We want to develop and nurture the gaming talent in India with the help of such tournaments.I am happy that Gillette has joined hands with us to promote the biggest ever gaming championship in India and see the potential that the gamers hold in this country."
