MUMBAI: Music Broadcast Pvt ltd (MBPL), owner of Radio City FM, has forayed into education with the launch of Radio City School of Broadcasting (RCSB).

Says Radio City School of Broadcasting chairperson and Radio City 91.1 FM CEO Apurva Purohit, “Involvement of the Radio City leadership team and senior management as faculty will ensure that students are mentored through a truly robust radio training programme. The idea is to create world-class radio professionals with hands-on radio experience who are industry-ready from the word go.”

The school offers six months certificate course in radio jockeying and radio production, comprising three months class room training followed by another three months internship at Radio City 91.1FM. The course is mainly targeted at graduates, students pursuing graduation and working professionals.

The classroom training includes two modules - an introduction to key elements of a radio station and essential insights on various functions at a radio station. The internship programme includes training across departments like programming, national creative and content integration.

“In addition to theoretical knowledge of various facets of radio management, our certificate course focuses on providing students the practical experience of working at a radio station. The course content will be refreshed periodically keeping in line with the industry dynamism. This ensures that students are exposed to a relevantly holistic learning of the Indian radio business and are ready to deliver from day one on the job,” adds Radio City School of Broadcasting dean and Radio City 91.1 FM head-HR Sagorika Kantharia.

Additionally, the course also includes papers like marketing and brand management, selling radio, scope and future of internet radio and career management along with radio production, radio jockeying, music management, sound technology and programming.
