MUMBAI:Google’s video sharing portal YouTube has appointed Anna Batson as its Marketing Director for Europe.

Prior to this, Bateson was Director, Viewer Marketing ITV.

Bateson’s appointment will be effective from May 2009 and she will be responsible for developing the YouTube brand in the UK and across Europe, as well as assisting in its commercialisation.

In January, YouTube had launched an IPTV channel on Virgin Media and Sky Anytime to raise brand awareness.

Bateson replaces YouTube head-UK Jonathan Gillespie, who left the company last month to join GMG Radio as commercial director.
