MUMBAI:
Sony's English film channel Pix has finalised a deal with
NDTV Lumiere and acquired the rights to 10 movies from the
film distributor. The move was made with a view to expand
the Pix library that already boasts some of the most renowned
and popular movies.
The recent additions include I'm Not There, Honey Dripper,
and Goodbye Bafna.
Pix
busijness head Sunder Aaron says, "The newly acquired
movies are a mix of innovative concepts, fine directors and
actors, and are compelling stories that our viewers can look
forward to. Reloading the Pix library is yet another step
towards growth and moreover, the acquired movies perfectly
blend into the line of movies that we offer i.e. movies with
great storylines! Through these new wins, we have reinforced
our position as the destination for the widest selection of
movies that tell great stories."
Honey
Dripper directed by John Sayles stars Danny Glover who
was given an award at the Frames convention. He plays the
owner of a blues club that is failing until he hires a young
electric guitarist (Gary Clark, Jr.). The film also stars
musician Keb' Mo'
I'm
Not There is a biographical film inspired by iconic American
singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Six actors depict different dimensions
and phases of Dylan's life and public persona. The cast consists
of Cate Blanchett who got an Oscar nomination, late Heath
Ledger, Christian Bale, and Richard Gere.
Goodbye
Bafna is a drama which revolves around the relationship between
Nelson Mandela and James Gregory, his censor officer and prison
guard.
