NEW DELHI: Disney has introduced DisneyXD.com, its new web destination.

The newly launched website is targeted towards boys between the age group of 6 to 14 years.

Says Disney Online EVP and general manager Paul Yanover, "We took the XD engine and essentially deconstructed it. Instead of putting it behind one door [on Disney.com], now it gets its own site."

Initially launched in 2007, XD was part of a major revamp process of Disney.com. The XD platform enabled users to create profiles, chat and mix-and-match their favorite content through a set of widgets.

The new DisneyXD.com tries to mix elements of Facebook and virtual worlds. Users can create avatars, establish profiles and accrue virtual goods by earning points. Those points are accumulated by playing games.

Earlier Disney had renamed its animation channel cable Toon Disney to DisneyXD. The kids entertainer further plans to rename channels it operates around the world as Disney XD by the end of 2009, including Jetix.
