| MUMBAI:
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Information and Broadcasting
Ministry over NDTV Imagines reality show - Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka.
The court has
taken cognizance of a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking ban on the Ravi
Kissan hosted show.
Hearing
the case, the division bench of Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal and Justice Ajay Mittal
asked the ministry to produce rules and guidelines about broadcast. The
PIL was filed by Surinder Kumar Bansal seeking directions to restrain the channel
from telecasting the serial. The petitioner claimed that Raaz
is
destroying the social fabric of the society. He filed that it is an artificial
presentation of something unreal and that the very basis of the programme
is based on concoction and hypnotism. NDTV
Imagine had launched Raaz Pichhle
on 7 December and was telecasting
it on Monday-Friday at the 9.30 pm slot. The show, based on the technique of past
life regression with participants ranging from celebrities to common people, had
opened with a TVR of 3.4. |
