MUMBAI:
Fox Network, a subsidiary of News Corp, is set to come up
with a new reality show, Someone's Gotta Go. The US-based
series will feature working people as contestants on the show.
Each
episode will feature about 15-20 participants from a company
and will on the show decide about the participants who will
get a pay cut, a raise in salary, or lose his or her job completely
based on information about their colleagues pay and reviews
of their past performance.
The
show is produced by Endemol based in USA, the maker of Big
Brother, Deal or No Deal and Fear Factor.
"I
feel that it's part of the times that we are living in. It's
certainly no worse than watching the news every night and
hearing all the statistics and watching what is happening.
Fox and Endemol have had no trouble finding companies willing
to participate," says Fox chief of alternating programming
Mike Darnell.
However
the host and the day on which the show is to be on-air is
yet to be decided. The show is designed in a manner that it
can be acquired for international regions.
More
than 5 million Americans have lost their jobs since the recession
started in December 2007, and the unemployment rate now stands
at 8.5 per cent.
