| MUMBAI:
Pan Asian broadcaster Sony Pictures Television International has announced that
the show Life On Mars will kick off on AXN Beyond. The
show will air on the channel in Singapore and Malaysia from 5 May every Tuesday
at 9 pm. In
troubled times of the Vietnam War, Watergate scandal, women's liberation, civil
and gay rights movements, what was life in New York City like three decades ago?
What if someone in today's world was made to live in the 1970s? Can he cope with
the culture shock and survive life that is almost on another planet altogether? Such
is the predicament of present day New York Police Department detective Sam Tyler
played by Jason O'Mara Grey's Anatomy who gets hit by a car while chasing
a criminal and awakes inexplicably as a contemporary detective, newly-transferred
to New York City's 125th Precinct in the year 1973. With
David Bowie's cryptic 1973 single Life on Mars? playing on his car's MP3
player when he was knocked down, Tyler regains consciousness to the same song
playing on an 8-track tape deck in his vintage car, with the newly-constructed
World Trade Center twin towers standing at a distance.
Desperate to make sense of what is going on, Tyler plummets headlong into life
as a detective in the tumultuous seventies while searching for a way back 'home'. |
