MUMBAI: Yahoo! has unveiled Yahoo! Mobile, a browser-based service available on more than 300 handsets across the world. Additionally, it is also available as a free application download on the iPhone.

"Consumers around the globe are demanding compelling mobile Internet services that offer increased personalization. To further capitalize on the market potential, we created Yahoo! Mobile, a starting point enabling consumers to discover the world around them, stay connected through a variety of communication services, and customize content to define their Internet experience on mobile devices," says Yahoo! Mobile SVP David Ko.

Additionally, the portal will feature advertisements from leading brands and consumers can interact with these media ads through functions such as send to a friend and locate a dealer. They can also call the advertiser directly or learn more about the advertiser's offer.

Yahoo! Mobile is currently available in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, India, Indonesia and Philippines. Additional localised versions are expected to be out later this year.
