MUMBAI:
Sony Pictures TV (SPT) has stitched a fresh two-year deal
with Vince Gilligan, creator of AMC series' Breaking Bad.
Estimated
to be approximately $4million, Gilligan will continue to executive
produce Breaking Bad for a third season. Production
for the same begins in the second half of 2009 and it's slated
for 2010 premier. He will also be responsible in conceiving
other projects.
The
first season of the series won Gilligan an Emmy nomination
and a WGA award, while actor Bryan Cranston bagged an Emmy.
The second season pulled in around 1.7 million viewers during
its premiere - 21 per cent up over the first season.
Breaking
Bad is about a high-school chemistry teacher who learns
about his death and becomes a meth producer hoping to earn
money that would take care of his family. Before Breaking
Bad, Gilligan exec produced The X-Files, The Lone Gunmen,
Robbery Homicide Division and Night Stalker.
