Discovery signs global deals for two series

MUMBAI: US broadcaster Discovery has announced a raft of international program sales and home video agreements for the series Deadliest Catch and Man Vs. Wild.

Deadliest Catch follows the brave men who do one of the deadliest jobs in the world - crab fishing in the Bering Sea. Deadliest Catch is produced for Discovery Channel by Original Productions.

Man Vs. Wild is produced for Discovery Channel by Diverse Productions.

In addition to airing on Discovery Channel in 357 million homes and 170 countries around the world, Deadliest Catch also airs in the following markets via programme sales agreements with international broadcasters: Greece on SKAI; Australia on Network Ten; in Canada via Astral Media; in Denmark, Norway and Sweden via Viasat Broadcasting; in Ireland on TV3; in Finland on Sanoma Television; in Switzerland via 3+ TV Group AG; in the UK on Channel 4; and in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovenia and Macedonia on Fox Televizija.

Man Vs. Wild, which is also seen on Discovery Channel in 357 million homes and 170 countries around the world, is also broadcast in the following countries via program sales agreements: in Greece on Skai; Spain on Sogecable; Chile on Diptel; Croatia on RTL Hrvatska; Ecuador on Television Nacional del Eucador Tevecuador; Germany on Kabel 1; New Zealand on Sky Network Television; UK on Channel 4; and in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovenia and Macedonia on FOX Televizija.

Deadliest Catch and Man Vs. Wild have also achieved home video sales around the world. Both titles are in the top 10 Discovery home video titles sold throughout the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Deadliest Catch is also in the top 10 sold titles in Asia-Pacific region.

Deadliest Catch is available on home video in the UK by Go Entertain and Demand DVD; in the Netherlands by Dutch Film Works; in Romania and Czech Republic by Sound and Image; in Germany by Polyband; in Spain by Track Media; and soon to be in Poland by Media Service; Nordic by Nordisk Film; and Australia by Magna Home Entertainment and Time Life.

Man Vs. Wild is also available on home video in the UK by Demand DVD; Germany by Polyband; Russia by DVD Magic; in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovenia and Macedonia by NET; Australia by Magna Home Entertainment; and soon to be Nordic by Nordisk Film.
