MUMBAI: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has partnered with with XFX, a graphics cards, motherboards and computer accessories manufacturer, to provide new products based on the ATI Radeon HD 4000 series GPUs to consumers.

Said AMD India sales and marketing VP Ramkumar Subramanian, “XFX' decision to partner with AMD and launch AMD GPU-based XFX graphics cards, including the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2, speaks about the level of excellence achieved by the ATI Radeon HD 4000 series.”

ATI Radeon HD 4000 series graphics cards were first introduced in June 2008 with the arrival of ATI Radeon HD 4850 and 4870. The ATI Radeon HD 4870, and its dual-GPU variant, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2, continue to be the only graphics cards to utilise a frame buffer based on GDDR5 memory. Most recently, AMD launched the ATI Radeon HD 4830 graphics card, raising the performance bar for graphics cards priced at less than $150 and presenting gamers with affordable access to the ATI Radeon HD 4800 series.

“India is a very important market for us. The graphics card space in India is growing exponentially and we do see a lot of potential for our graphics portfolio here. We are proud that XFX has chosen us as their partner as this will help provide ATI and XFX die-hard fans a whole new level of experience,” said AMD director – graphic sales, Asia-Pacific Patrick Wong.
