MUMBAI: NewsX newsroom head Arup Ghosh is out of the organisation, three months after INX News, which holds the English news channel, was sold by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea to Indi Media.

NewsX has terminated Ghosh's employment with immediate effect, the company said in an email communication to its employees. Ghosh had joined NewsX following the departure of its CEO and editorial head Vir Sanghvi.

Meanwhile, Vynsley Fernandes, who was acting as the operational head of NewsX as a part of the arrangement with INX Media, has returned to INX Media as group director - network operations. He, however, would continue to help INX Media till such time that the operations staff are settled.

"Vynsley would be working with the respective persons in operations to hand over the charge and will be coordinating with Chhajlani till the completion of the same. We hope to complete the same latest by 30 April, 2009," the email stated.

INX News was sold in January to a newly formed joint venture between NaiDunia promoter and CEO Vinay Chhajlani and former Businessworld editor Jehangir S Pocha.

At the time of takeover, Pocha had hinted at taking on a strong editorial role, which, as per insiders, fuelled the tension between Ghosh and the new owners. The faceoff had kept Ghosh out of the ring of election coverage amid attempts by news channels to win over more viewers by increasing their footage on political news.

Meanwhile, Indi Media is working on a revamp of the channel which would undergo several changes after the general election period is over, sources said.
