MUMBAI: Wipro has bought out Nokia's enterprise-focused mobile TV unit for an undisclosed amount.

Nokia's mobile broadcast unit has around 40 employees. It created hardware and software that enabled mobile TV technology on the phone to find and access the broadcasting network.

Mobile television broadcasting, an upcoming feature for cell phones, has found scant demand in the world. Commenting on the deal, a Nokia spokesperson said, "We wanted to focus on the consumer side of things, the mobile TV client in the devices, rather than on the business-to-business side."

Wipro is involved in segments including Information technology, consumer care, lighting, engineering and healthcare.
