DELHI: A total of 14 applicants seeking uplinking or downlinking facilities for
18 television channels have been asked to submit requisite information by 15 May
to prevent their applications from being rejected. According
to a notification of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, 15 of these were
for uplinking and only three were for downlinking permission. All
these channels had been given certain deadlines to complete the necessary formalities
and give documents and information for getting the permission, but had failed
to do so. In
the case of Entertainment Network Television Pvt Ltd, which had applied for downlinking
Raj India TV, the Ministry had received a fax seeking withdrawal, but this had
not been followed up by a letter confirming the fax. Others
seeking downlinking permission are PPV Moview & Content Pvt Ltd (FOX News
channel) and Prahlad Telefilms Pvt Ltd for Career TV. The
companies which have sought for uplinking including Sahara Indian Commercial Corporation
for four channels (Sahara Marathi, Sahara Bengali, Sahara Gujarati, and Sahara
English). Rayudu Vision Media Ltd sought uplinking for two channels (RTV2 and
RTV3).
The
other channels which have sought uplinking permission are
Pranav Communications Pvt Ltd (Thai TV), Rachna TV Pvt Ltd
(Bhakhti TV Kannada), Cogent Media Ltd (True Life),
Hamara Samay TV News Net P Ltd (Alif TV), Graycells 18 Media
P Ltd (Topper Junior), Venus Media and Entertainers India
Pvt Ltd (One News), Goldwin Entertainment Media P Ltd (Goldwin
TV), and Independent News Services Pvt Ltd (India TV Wiz).
