Disney acquires Canadian kids and family online sites

MUMBAI: In a bid to increase its online content, Disney Online, the subsidiary of Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG), has entered into an agreement with Canada-based Kaboose Inc to acquire the Canadian kids and family websites.

 

The company has brought online sites including Kaboose.com, Babyzone.com, AmazingMoms.com, Funschool.com and Zeeks.com for a whoping $18.4 million. All the websites will be integrated with Disney's line-up of websites.

"This acquisition strengthens our position as an entertainment destination for kids and families and an online resource for parents. These web properties complement Disney Online's category, broadens our audience and infuses an array of new content into our sites," stated Disney Online EVP and MD Paul Yanover.

 
 

Disney's online sites including Disney's flagship website Disney.com and other parents-focused online sites like DisneyFamily.com, FamilyFun.com and iParenting.comare tapped by an estimated 27.6 million visitors a month.

"Providing parents with information and tools to make family lives easier, combined with Disney's leadership in family entertainment, will create the most content rich online experience for families. We are excited for the future of our online properties within Disney and the continued development of world-class user experiences for parents," says Kaboose Inc CEO Jason DeZwirek.
